The Moon rises before the Sun
The feelings of Cancer season have not gone unfelt. Calling it a season of upheaval sounds too dramatic but it was definitely a season that awakened our internal systems through ebbs and flows like the ocean’s waves stirring up the sands of our own ocean floors. Mercury retrograde in Cancer added to this feeling of a wave pulling the buried silt and the heavy forgotten grains within our systems. What we may have thought was settled within us, started to undergo a shake up. It was a season made to pause and reexamine our internal and emotional needs. Our internal processes were processing.
And now, in the season of the Sun, light is starting to shine on it all…

Cancer is the season of the Moon. The wisdom of the Moon is the wisdom of the undercurrent. It does not create growth through light like the Sun. It’s rhythm is what allows a tugging at our depths. It governs the parts of us that are fluid, our moods, our emotions.
Cancer season tugged at us softly and slowly throughout its time. Stirring up more and more feelings as the season progressed. And even though the season of our dear beautiful Moon has come to its end, its energy is always with us. The Moon is our monthly rhythm and the Sun is our daily one. Both the Moon and the Sun are such large influences on our systems. They are the two pillars that matter the most in our personal astrologies.
Last night, with women I love, we sat out with the Moon almost in its fullness. Basking in its light I was reminded how we wouldn’t have the Moon’s light without the reflection of the Sun’s. These two go hand in hand. They are the feminine and the masculine, the yin and yang, the water and the fire.
To live under both is to acknowledge that we are moved by two different kinds of power. One fuels the strength of the hand to do, while the other governs the weight of the heart to feel. The Sun teaches us how to arrive and the Moon teaches us how to return.
So it feels strange to fully go into the container that was Cancer season while the Sun’s season, Leo, is still playing out.
Now Leo is shining its light on what Cancer stirred up for us. And that stirring has yet to settle. It needs to bake in the Sun’s heat for the rhythm of the undercurrent to become fully clear. So with that being said, this month’s reflection is only an introduction. I feel like to fully write about Cancer season, I first have to let Leo season have its glow.
And since our Moon can’t glow without our Sun anyways, I think it’s important to speak about them together. So next’s month reflection will hold both seasons. For now we can enjoy tonight’s Full Moon! Go out, stand in its light and feel what kind of magical knowledge will start to reach you.
